Taken from an interview onwww.seanfreeman.com:

Q: Which other musicians have you played live with?
A: Well I came to London in 1992 and busked in Covent Garden - tough job! From this I landed a spot in the songwriter’s house band. It was a 6/7 piece band and we had to learn the songs of 4 singer songwriters and then perform on the Monday night. The idea was for unsigned artists to get their stuff aired with industry people coming long to the show. The pay wasn’t great but I got expenses! I had nothing to lose and everything to gain so I did it! I was then talent spotted which lead to doing touring shows for 2 years. After this I was recommended to the Musical Director of ‘Oh what a night’, a 70’s stage show with Kid Creole and a 10-piece band and we played in places like Blackpool, Manchester, Hammersmith Apollo etc. Apart from Level, I also play with a band called Sixth Sense a tribute band to Lee Morgan. I’m a massive fan of Blue Note Jazz and we play songs from the ‘Side Winder’ by Lee Morgan and featuring Joe Henderson. Then there is Fat Freddy’s Kat, a jazz funk fusion covers band consisting of a guitarist who is also working with the Sugababes, a drummer who used to play with Squeeze, a keyboard player for Des'ree and a bass player who has worked with Michael Bolton. I did this for two years and then Kid Creole asked me to join his bands tour so we went to the US and Europe. I also did some arranging for them but left last year to do other things.

Q:How did you get involved with Level 42?
A: Well I know Lyndon very well and he kept recommending me to Mark King who was considering having the sax in the line up again. Lyndon gave me a call said "I’ve got some gigs for you" - no mention of Level 42. I came to rehearsals the next day and the first song I played with them was ‘The Sunbed Song’ - it was a real baptism of fire, they take no prisoners! It’s been great for me as I am really an improviser and that’s very important to me. I’d heard Kryhs Mach’s stuff before and he had a great sound. He seemed heavily influenced by Michael Brecker, David Sanborn et al. I liked it.
